FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (WCCO) — A Fergus Falls Wal-Mart was evacuated Saturday after someone made a threat to hurt employees and customers of the store.

Police say they received a 911 call from the store around 7:34 p.m. Saturday. The caller said they received a threat by phone to the store.

The employee who took the phone call told police the person made a specific threat of violence towards employees and customers and said the threat was imminent.

Police say they will not release other details regarding the threat as they are continuing to investigate the situation.

Staff and customers were evacuated, with officers providing extra security. Police searched the store but didn’t find anyone posing a threat.

The store re-opened after being closed for about two hours while the security sweep was being conducted.

About 20 officers from several police agencies assisted at the scene.

Police are investigating to see if the threat was an isolated incident or if other Wal-Mart locations were affected.

Officers say no one was taken hostage, there were no weapons or threats found in the store and no one was injured.

The investigation will continue.
